Do your students struggle with basic division facts?
Do you want to implement a strategic, conceptual approach to teaching division, but you don’t know where to start?
Do you wish you had a way to ensure that every student is being appropriately challenged and working to their full potential?
When you choose to use The Division Station in your classroom, you aren't only focusing on quick recall, but also on a real understanding of division. We know that students need to understand what division really means in order to retain the facts. The Division Station can help.
How Does It Work?
It’s quite simple. Students work through a series of division activities for each level. They complete the activities, self-check using the prepared answer keys, and keep track of their progress using their personal tracker. At the end of each level, the student asks the teacher for a quick, informal oral quiz. If the student knows the facts, they move to the next level. If not, they simply practice a bit more until they feel ready.
The process is entirely student-run. After the program's first week, you will notice your role switching from teacher to facilitator.
Why do students love this so much? It’s easy! They have power! They have freedom! They are truly in control of their learning. And THAT results in highly motivated students who love to learn.
Add to that an effective order of teaching the facts that makes practical sense, and you will have students who feel smart, successful, and engaged.
There are a few big goals that The Division Station will help your students achieve:
Fact fluency for the division facts from 1-12
An understanding of what division really means (conceptual understanding)
The ability to make connections between facts and use what they know to solve new problems
A sense of empowerment and confidence
This resource includes everything that you need to make this program a huge success in your classroom, including:
- strategic, progressive, division activities for the facts from 1-12 (to 144 divided by 12); each set of facts is first isolated and then integrated with previous facts to result in maximum understanding and mastery
- easy-to-understand instruction for each set of division facts, that focuses on the relationship between multiplication and division
- answer keys
- an accompanying video to help you prepare and understand your Division Station (I want to support you the best I can!)
- clear set-up instructions
- parent resources and home practice charts
- classroom posters
- student and teacher assessment trackers
- Division Passports
- Supplementary Activities that can be used throughout the year to reinforce division skills
Teacher support is very important to me and I do everything possible to guide you through the process of creating your own Division Station. Within the document, you will find checklists, set-up guides, as well as a support video to guide you through the set-up process.
What Teachers Are Saying
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This has been a lifesaver for my small groups - I love how it's easy to use and how the students can do a lot of it independently!" Cheryl C.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "Wow! This resource has answered all of my prayers as a teacher! I am so impressed with the ease of this program, for myself and my students. It has been a life saver for my students who are struggling with certain facts, or need to develop confidence. They are able to go through at their own pace but see how they are progressing and improving every time a booklet is completed. Division is something we are consistently practicing so it's great having it readily available. As a teacher, it has been a critical resource to assess how my students are doing and how they are using their independent work time. Forever grateful for this resource!" Brittany W.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This resource is great for my grade 4 classroom. The students have gaps from covid and learning difficulties but this resource makes learning fun, accessible, and engaging." Kendra B.
