About
Christmas math has never been so engaging! This Christmas escape room is a high-energy, high-motivation, teamwork activity that is sure to engage even your most reluctant students this December. Your students are going to LOVE this Christmas Escape Room activity where they will crack codes, overcome obstacles, and work together as a team, ultimately saving the elves!
About grade levels: This escape room activity is best-suited to 4th and 5th grade; however, I have heard from many 6th grade teachers who have used it as a fun activity as well. If you are looking for a Christmas Escape Room better suited to younger students, check out the Where's Rudolph? Escape Room.
How It Works
First, there's a back story that you'll read to your students.
Next, your students will complete five different challenges (or obstacles) in order to make it through Santa’s Workshop and save the elves.
The obstacles and materials are stored in a brown envelope. Teams will work through the obstacle, and when they are finished they will bring the materials back to the teacher, then get the next obstacle. This makes for easy preparation and storage!
What's Included?
As your students work through the FIVE challenges and make their way through Santa's workshop, different math skills will be reinforced. This includes:
- multiples of 10
- basic operations
- area
- perimeter
- identifying fractions
- adding fractions
- multiplication or repeated addition
- volume
A DIGITAL version of this resource is included! This digital version uses Google Forms™ and can be used to make this escape room a remote or device-based activity. Enjoy!
What Teachers Are Saying

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "My students LOVED this activity during the last week before Christmas break! It was just challenging enough to keep their attention and fun enough to encourage fun while doing it! Thank you!" Ashlee L.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This was the best!! I prepared it for 2-5th grade classrooms during our week before Christmas break. It took 2 days to complete. The students were super-engaged and very competitive. The first day was a bit confusing, but they were so excited the next day. We were also able to include our distance learners. It was the best!!" Grace O.
