About
Do you want to implement more mental math strategies into your classroom, but don’t know where to start?
Do you already teach mental math, but want to work more strategically to target your students more effectively?
This is going to be the solution that you have been looking for! The Long Division Station integrates simple principles of student engagement including power, fun and choice. These basic principles will engage, motivate, and ensure success for all learners in your classroom.
How Does It Work?
It’s quite simple. Students work through a series of activities for each level. They complete the activities, self-check using the prepared answer keys, and keep track of their progress using their personal tracker. At the end of each level, the student asks the teacher for a quick, informal oral quiz. If the student knows the strategy, they move to the next level. If not, they simply practice a bit more until they feel ready.
The process is entirely student-run. After the program's first week, you will notice your role switching from teacher to facilitator.
Why do students love this so much? It’s easy! They have power! They have freedom! They are truly in control of their learning. And THAT results in highly motivated students who love to learn.
Add to that an effective order of teaching the strategies that makes practical sense, and you will have students who feel smart, successful, and engaged.
so much? It’s easy: they have power! They have freedom! They are truly in control of their own learning. And THAT results in highly motivated students who love to learn.
Goals
Long division can actually be quite a controversial topic when it comes to choosing the strategies that we should teach. Using a balance of traditional strategies and "new math" will help your students achieve:
- A deep understanding of numbers and place value concepts when dividing
- Efficiency from a solid number sense foundation
- Differentiation for different ability levels
- The ability to make connections between division strategies and real-life math problems
- A sense of empowerment and confidence
- Success

This resource includes everything that you need to make this program a huge success in your classroom, including:

What Teachers Are Saying
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This is a great resource, I have been using it as review work when students are finished with assigned work. I like how it allows them to review at their own pace and is engaging." Racheal I.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "I love these worksheets - they level up as you go and they have examples on the worksheets to refer to. My students love how they can move on to the next lesson when they're ready or if they wanted to practice more - just grab the next sheet within that level. I also appreciate the tasks cards which give a quick check to see how the students are doing." Shaughnessy N.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ "This resource provides for a logical progression of division skills. My students are generally nervous about division work in general. However, while using this resource I had students going home to teach their parents how they're learning to divide. Parents have also commented on their child's newfound confidence. Some of my students who struggle the most have been motivated to keep trying because of their success with these strategies. Thanks for an excellent resource!" Susan D.
