Here's a great way to introduce transformations for your next geometry unit. This Transformations Scavenger Hunt will encourage students to notice that translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations (or slides, flips, turns, stretching/shrinking) are all around them in real life!
Take your class on a walk around the school or playground, and have them look for real-life examples of each type of transformation. They can either draw a picture or write a quick description. This is an ideal partner activity.
Pair this scavenger hunt with this other Transformation resource for even more engagement and deep understanding:
You'll receive 4 half-page templates for your students to draw or write where they find examples of each transformation.
